Newmarket Trailers have a first-class workshop offering our customers the highest level of service to cater for all makes and models of trailers. All our technicians are trained to the highest standard and approved by NTTA (National Trailer and Towing Association).

Trailers often have a hard life which is why it's important to service them. We recommend servicing them once a year to ensure they are kept to a good roadworthy condition irrespective of the work they have to do.

Servicing Schedule

The NTTA recommends the following servicing schedule but this very much depends on type and frequency of usage, but an outline guide could be as follows:

  • Daily or before each journey - certain checks are essential for safety and are the responsibility of the trailer operator.
  • After the first 600 miles (1000 km) - essential for new trailers or if new brake linings and/or Bowden cables are fitted.
  • Every 3000 miles (5000 km) - three monthly for commercial/industrial trailers intensive usage, either by mileage towed or type of application and including boat trailers that are immersed in water.
  • Every 6000 miles (10,000kms) - annually for caravans and leisure trailers. Six monthly for commercial/industrial trailers - based on "average" use.

Chassis Only Servicing Charges:

  • Remove wheels and brake drums
  • Inspect and clean braking system
  • Inspect tires and check tire pressures
  • Check wheel bearings
  • Adjust brakes/ handbrake
  • Check hitch damper and grease hitch.
  • Check winding legs and grease
  • Check chassis for general condition
  • Check road lights operation

Examples of Service Charges

  • Single Axle unbraked Trailer Service - £90.00 + VAT
  • Single Axle Braked Trailer Service - £185.00 + VAT
  • (plus one set of new one-shot hub nuts @ £10.00 + VAT)
  • Double Axle Braked Trailer Service - £205.00 + VAT
  • (plus one set of new one-shot hub nuts @ £20.00 + VAT)
  • Tri-Axle Braked Trailer Service - £235.00 + VAT
  • (plus one set of new one-shot hub nuts @ £30.00 + VAT)

Standard Hourly Rate = £95.00 + VAT.

The above service charge includes a safety inspection, lubrication of moving parts, brakes cleaned and fully adjusted.

Replacement parts and labour are charged for accordingly however we always contact you before any other works are carried out to obtain permission to proceed.
